For awhile now I’ve been looking for a good, mid-price, reflex sight. Of course you’ve got the EOTech Sights, which I consider the best out there, Aimpoint and Trijicon. But unless you have over about $450 to spend, there hasn’t been a lot of choices. It seems like this situation is beginning to change with a few new-comers to the reflex and red dot sight market. The Sightmark Ultra Shot is a very solid, reliable, reflex sight. Similar to the EOTechs, it has a protective hood over the optics which is a big plus. It’s available in a couple of different versions. There’s the standard version and the night vision compatible version. If you are not ever planning on using a magnifier, then the standard version will work for you. But if you are going to use a magnifier, make sure you purchase the Night Vision compatible model. It has double pane glass and will give you a crisper image through the magnifier than the standard version.
It features four reticle patterns and variable brightness control. The reticle is very bright and doesn’t washout on light colored backgrounds and targets. I highly recommend the Sightmark Ultra Shot.
