We have taken the road less traveled… and when there was no road, we made our own…

I grew up on a farm 25 miles from town. We were taught to trust in God, rely on each other, and be self-sufficient. We didn’t have a telephone so if there was a problem; we had to figure it out instead of calling for help.

We learned to shoot at a young age and my brothers and I packed guns just about everywhere we went. We hunted anything that moved, did chores is sub-zero temperatures in the winter and caught cat fish on willow limbs in the summer.I’ve always loved history, and as a kid read books about Kit Carson, Jim Bridger, Geronimo, George Washington, Crazy Horse and other historical figures. This provided me with a sense of the blood, sweat and tears that formed this great country of ours. I grew up proud of being an American and could sing the National Anthem by heart at age 5.

I married my high school sweetheart and joined the military. We served in the U.S. military around the world. We served on active duty for 8 years while starting a family. After leaving the military, we wandered a bit trying to find our path in life.
We never really found anything that seemed to feel right and so I went back to doing what I know…. Protecting people and our way of life. I now work as a Deputy Sheriff for a small, rural county in the mountains of the western United States.
